International Claims Handler (marine and transport)

You will be working in an international team and treat a large variety of claims, in various regions of the world and for different clients (insurance companies, brokers, transporting companies).

The claims will mainly involve marine & transport insurance claims, with property & liability claims to a lesser extent. Marine & Transport claims include: cargo insurance claims, inland & outland hull and CRM.

Apart from handling claims you will also be responsible to support the European manager in client relationship building.

As a claims handler you will manage and coordinate the claims process end-to-end:

• Receive and analyse the initial claim,
• Coordinate the survey in close collaboration with our international Claims Coordination Centre and our network of local surveyors,
• Steer the local surveying company in order to receive fully, detailed and efficient reports and documents,
• Analyse and interpret results in order to assess the cause of the damage,
• Discuss and communicate with clients and negotiate with opposing parties from A to Z,
• Solve claims under amicable discussions worldwide.

Communication will be an important part of your tasks: you will be in contact with various involved external parties, discuss complex cases with our own international claims experts or your direct colleagues in the Antwerp Office. Furthermore, you will communicate continuously about the ongoing process and discuss results with our clients.

In the domain of client relationship management, you will also be responsible for:

• Building, managing and growing relationships with your own portfolio of clients.
• Define a strategic plan to accelerate growth in your client portfolio in close collaboration with the European manager.
• Suggest actions and put them into practice.
• Plan and set-up evaluation meetings with clients and visit key-clients in the European region.
• Participate in various market events, meetings, video calls, presentations, network building, etc...
